Cancellations & refunds
What happens when plans change, a player cancels or Fancy A Game? has to cancel a fixture.
Player cancellations
A player may self-cancel a confirmed or complimentary booking when kick-off is more than 24 hours away. The cancellation is recorded immediately, the place is released to the next player or waitlist, and the amount paid for the place is added to your wallet. A block-pass session goes back on your pass.
Confirmed bookings cannot be self-cancelled within 24 hours of kick-off. If exceptional circumstances apply, contact us; the operator can review the booking, but a refund or credit is not guaranteed.
Pending-payment holds and waitlist places may also be cancelled before the game, allowing capacity and queue positions to update.
Refunds and account credit
Money back from a cancellation is paid into your wallet rather than onto your card. Wallet credit never expires and can be used for any Fancy A Game? fixture, with no booking fee.
Card payments include a booking fee of 3.5% + 25p that covers the card processing charge. It is not refunded when a place is cancelled, because that charge has already been incurred. Paying from your wallet or a block pass has no booking fee.
Top-ups of £30 or more include bonus credit. Bonus credit can be spent on games but cannot be withdrawn.
Withdrawing your wallet
You can ask for the money in your wallet back at any time from the Wallet page, apart from bonus credit. We normally return it to the card you paid with. The amount leaves your wallet when you ask and comes back if we cannot process the request.
If we cancel a fixture
If Fancy A Game? cancels a fixture, every place is cancelled and each player gets what they paid back in their wallet automatically, or their block-pass session back on the pass. If you would rather have the money back, request a withdrawal from your wallet.
Some games need a minimum number of players, shown on the game page. If too few have paid 3 hours before kick-off, the game is called off automatically and treated as cancelled by the organiser.
Do not travel to a venue after receiving a cancellation notice. Check My Games and the latest message from us for the current fixture status.
Games run by independent hosts
You pay the host of these games directly through Stripe, so money back goes to your card rather than your wallet. Card refunds usually reach you within 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank.
Cancel more than 24 hours before kick-off and the place price is refunded to your card. The booking fee is not refunded. Removing a friend from your booking in the same time refunds their share.
Within 24 hours of kick-off, paid places are not refunded automatically. Ask the host; they can choose to refund you.
If the host cancels the game or your booking, or the game is called off for lack of players, the price of your place is refunded to your card. The booking fee is not refunded.
